The Biggest Photography Myth: Why Expensive Gear Won’t Make You a Better Photographer We’ve all been there. You are scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest, admiring breathtaking landscapes, razor-sharp street portraits, or perfectly lit coastal scenes. You look at those images, then you look down at your entry-level DSLR or your smartphone, and a familiar thought creeps in: "If I just had that $3,000 full-frame camera and that $2,000 lens, my photos would look exactly like that." It is the most pervasive, enduring, and ultimately damaging myth in the entire photography world. It’s the belief that the quality of your art is directly tied to the price tag of your equipment. I completely understand why it happens. It is incredibly easy to blame our tools when our creative vision doesn't match our output.
